Filerimos

The hill of Filerimos is located in the area of Ialyssos and has a height of 267 meters. It is known for the monastery of Panagia Filerimos, the ancient acropolis of Ialyssos, and the emblematic cross.

At this point you can enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the blue Aegean Sea.

At the top of the hill is the Monastery of Filerimos.

At the entrance there are stairs which lead to an alley surrounded by cypress trees which ends at the monastery and the foundations of the temple. The monastery was built by the Knights, on the ruins of a Byzantine church which was built on the foundations of the Temple of Ialyssia Athena, part of which survives to this day.

On the other side, two large rows of cedars enclose an alley, which leads to a roof, where a giant cross was built a few years ago.

The cross is internally accessible, and a narrow staircase leads to its horizontal part which acts as a balcony. From the point of the Cross one can enjoy the view, since one can see the villages of Maritsa, Pastida, the old airport, as well as the village of Kremasti.
